Unlike other religions, which promote only male gods the Hindus have many women goddesses as well, and in the vast Hindu literature there are many ladies with strong character. This compliment the fact that the women enjoyed freedom and were educated in par with their men. Rig Veda, the most ancient Text available to human race was composed by more than four hundred Rishis, of which more than thirty are Women Rishis. This is definitely a rare incident in religious and philosophical writings.

Rig Veda never prejudiced against women Rishis and always addressed them by same name Rishi. Many suktas by Lady Rishies such as Vak Sukta, Sradha Sukta, Vivaha sukta are very famous and are chanted in religious ceremonies .
